Dog-A-Thon 2012 is the Humane Society's annual walk for homeless pets.  All funds raised support the adoption program at the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County, and help find homes for more than 6,000 pets each year.  You raise pledges before the event, then join other animal advocates on Saturday, July 21 at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood Washington from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  You can walk any time, choosing from a short mile-long scenic loop around Lake Waughop (ideal for strollers, wheelchairs, or elderly dogs) or a beautiful four-mile loop through the trees. Both routes offer breath-taking views, and are supported with water-stops and treat-stops.  When you are finished, enjoy dozens of pet-friendly vendors at the staging areas, watch demonstrations and participate in fun competitions.  All funds support the adoption program at the Humane Society and help find homes for more than 6,000 pets each year.
