World Vision's mission is to tackle the root causes of poverty by working with children, families, and their communities to provide clean water, health care, nutritious food, education, and economic opportunities.  As a part of that work, World Vision and the Chicago Marathon have teamed up to raise money for the provision of clean water to villages in Africa by building water wells.  Clean water is vital for the health and economic development of these people.  

Please take a moment to think about how essential clean water is in your everyday life.  If you did not have a consistent supply of clean water, think about how it would directly and immediately effect your hygiene, health and quality of life.

It was my increasing awareness of the importance of World Vision's projects to provide clean water to those that need it so desperately that lead me to commit to running the Chicago Marathon and raise money for this project.
