Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee! As most of you already know, I received a life-saving liver transplant in April of 1994 after living most of my life with a chronic illness, cirrhosis of the liver. Since that time, I've been living life to the fullest as the Lord has allowed me to accomplish many things and to be involved in my community. I'm a living witness that organ transplantation works!
Let's get to why I asked you to come to my web page. I am planning to attend the 2008 U.S. Transplant Games in Pittsburgh, PA which takes place July 11th - 16th and I would greatly appreciate your support. The trip will cost approximately $1,200.00 per athlete. I have attended 3 transplant games and usually participated in single's bowling, co-ed basketball and volleyball (2 in Orlando, FL and 1 in Minneapolis, MN). I missed the 2006 games due to knee surgery; but I would love to make this my fourth! Will you help? No amount is too small and will certainly be appreciated.
This is an awesome event! Transplant recipients from all over the country participate in these games. During this time, we swap state pins, share our stories, share our appreciation and love for life, we thank God for the donor families and we express thanks to those donor family members who may attend, and compete in a vast array of competitions. Although we are all winners, 2nd chance at life, most go to these games with a competitive spirit....to win, others go for the sheer enjoyment of being there amongst others who have walked through and survived similar struggles.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Blessings!
Donnetta
