In 2008 I ran my first Olympic length TriAthlon and I was simply happy to survive it. (see the picture!..I am guy on right!) It is a 1 mile swim, 26 mile bike and a 10K run event with approx. 9,000 people participating.
This year, in August 2009, I am going to again run the Chicago Accenture TriAthlon but this time I want to do it faster and hopefully with less pain! But more importantly, I am focused on raising funds for the Gift of Adoption Foundation. GOA has been a personal part of my life for over 6 years and I am incredibly motivated to train knowing that I can help provide homes to children and parents who want to be connected. "Joining Hands, Joining Hearts, Making Families" is exactly what GOA is all about. We have personally seen the power of how adoption can positively change one's family and life in ways that are beyond expression. There is simply no more positively powerful cause then creating families.
It is my goal to raise enough money to connect one child with one family. The average grant for a family who wants to adopt is $5,000 and so if I can raise that amount, one more child can be introduced into their new family.
Here are my personal 2009 Goals vs. my 2008 results:
