The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond invites you, your family, friends, co-workers & the community to support our
3rd Annual Buddy Walk!
The Buddy Walk was established by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to promote acceptance, awareness and inclusion of people with Down syndrome (DS) and to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. It has evolved into the single largest awareness vehicle for DS worldwide. Approximately 250,000 people participated in over 275 walks in 2008!
Join us for a family-friendly, fun-filled day at the Richmond Raceway Complex (Shine: Racetrack; Rain: Old Dominion Building) on Saturday, October 10, 2009 (11AM-3PM), to include:
- Live music & entertainment
- Children's activities
- Food
- Vendor & Sponsor Displays
- Down syndrome advocacy organizations
- RIR pace car rides
- 3/4 mile walk around the racetrack!
How can you support our Buddy Walk?
Your financial support funds our FREE event & DSAGR's efforts to improve the quality of life of individuals with DS.
1. WALK: Register for our FREE event by clicking on GET STARTED! Choose the "Buddy Walk WALKER Registration" link. Create your fundraising pg. (see #2) after completing registration, when prompted. *Online registration closes 10/4/09 @ 11:59PM.*
2. CREATE A FUNDRAISING PAGE!
Collect pledges for our walk with a fundraising pg.! ANY individual/group can create a fundraising pg., including Buddy Captains (individuals with DS), walkers (see #1), non-walkers, friends, family, businesses, & community groups! Link your fundraising pg. to your favorite Team when prompted.
**Non-walkers: Create your fundraising pg. by clicking on GET STARTED, then "Buddy Walk FUNDRAISER ONLY."
3. PLEDGE: Find your favorite fundraising pg. by entering the pg. creator's last name into the WANT TO DONATE? box or by clicking on "view all fundraising pages."
4. VOLUNTEER: Register by clicking on GET STARTED! Choose the "Buddy Walk VOLUNTEER Registration" link. Volunteers will receive lunch & a t-shirt (quantities permitting). *Online registration closes 10/4/09 at 11:59PM.*
5. DONATE: Make a general donation now to DSAGR by clicking on DONATE!
