Since 1985, DuPage PADS has been the catalyst for change in the lives of those who are homeless in the county. It is our mission to end homelessness in DuPage County, not just manage it. We accomplish this with a solution-oriented approach that begins by tackling the housing issue with interim/overnight, transitional and permanent housing solutions. But our proven strategy goes beyond supplying housing alone. Adding multi-faceted support services including life skills and employment assistance to the mix means we can help to prevent our participants from recycling back to the streets. But we cannot and do not accomplish this alone. It requires a huge collaborative effort among our more than 4,000 dedicated volunteers and over 100 congregations and community groups to pitch in and supply food, support and hospitality to more than 1,200 men, women and children in our communities every year.
Every day our dedicated staff and volunteers empower our participants to rebound and rebuild their lives toward self-sufficiency while holding them accountable for their own progress. DuPage PADS offers hope and possibility to all who enter the doors of our facilities. Inside they are greeted by compassionate people who are dedicated to restoring their dignity and self-worth. We teach them that being homeless does not define them. Our success is easy to track. It’s when a participant has a job, a place to call home and is able to contribute to society and the community in which he lives. Fortunately, DuPage PADS has many of these success stories to tell.
