MORE PRAISE TO THE LORD! AND THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR OVERWHELMING SUPPORT AND PRAYERS! It is so exciting to know that there will be TWO new fresh water wells in Zambia. Isn’t is wonderful to be a part of God’s work? Furthermore, it has been a joy to see the team He has created to make this happen; thank you for your essential role. Soon there will be hundreds of families receiving thousands of gallons of water a day! Praise to the Living Water for His work in, through, and for His People! “To Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever! Amen” (St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians 3:20) (8/29)
The Zambian Mountaineering Team would also like to thank the offline contributors to this project for their support and prayers: C.J.VanWagner, Bill & Nancy Souders, Lois Berger, Judy Dominguez, Bob & Brenda Vishanoff, Gavin Owens, Randall & Marcia Kobiella, Mary & Ralph Burge, Charlie & Ruth Ochs, Mike & Sharon Mason, John & Sharon Oehler, Robert Hewett, David & Nancy Roth, Bill & Megan Bickhart, Kristen Johnson, Emma Boyd and Friends, Susanna Frusti, Kelly Jackson, Pio Fitzgerald, Charles Beauchamp, Spokes, Darlene Clark (Value Partners), Ira Nicholson, Kay Grossman, Ray and Nancy Aaron, and all of the anonymous prayers and donors. PRAISE THE LORD! 6 members of our team safely reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at 8:00 am Sunday, July 23rd. Thank you for your prayers and support; we had a great experience. One of the team highlights was watching the wind vigorously flap the Zambian flag attached to Scott’s ice axe at 14410 feet. If you would like to see a few photos from the trip check out this website: http://home.earthlink.net/~dani.mark/MtRainier.htm . Again, thank you for helping us make these dreams of providing water for Zambians come true! (8/7)
WE ARE STILL HOPING TO BUILD TWO NEW WELLS FOR $20,000. Because of your support we are almost at this financial summit! It is exciting to think of the powerful impact we can all have when we work as a team. If you know of others who may be interested in joining the fight against AIDS and Poverty, be sure to show them the various ways of how to get involved. This climb is only one of the countless opportunities available. Check out the websites below for more information. God Bless. (8/7)
"2 FOR 20" Because of the overwhelming support and excitement about this project we have decided to set a NEW GOAL to build 2 wells. World Vision has informed us that $20,000 will make this new dream come true. (5/30)
THANK YOU FOR HELPING US REACH OUR ORIGINAL GOAL of $14,410 for one NEW WELL!! You have made a lasting difference in so many lives. (5/28)
ELEVATE HOPE: (3/3)
In partnership with the Wheaton Academy Zambia Project The Zambia Mountaineering Team plans to climb
Mount Rainier and to raise a dollar per foot of the mountain.
Mount Rainier is 14,410 feet high; therefore, our goal is to raise 14,410 dollars for the Zambia Project. All of the money raised by the team members will go towards building a desperately needed well in an impoverished village in Zambia, Africa. Our group is excited for the trip, the adventure, and fellowship that it offers, but we are even more excited at the possibility of elevating awareness, hope, and action for the present emergency in
Africa . This may seem like an extreme goal but it is achievable when we are thinking in God’s terms, and every little bit helps us reach our goal.
It may be helpful to think of it in this way:
1 Zambian lives off of only $1 a day.
Every 14 seconds a child is orphaned due to HIV/AIDS.
144 Zambians can get more than
1,441 gallons of fresh water by noon each day as result of one new well purchased for
14,410 dollars, one dollar for every foot of elevation on Mount Rainer!
Water is Life! In many rural parts of Zambia, Africa, children die from diarrhea, dysentery, malaria, or other preventable diseases, directly related to a lack of clean water. Clean water often lies hundreds of feet below layers of hard rock. Children have no choice but to drink disease-infested water from surface lakes and ponds. When World Vision's drilling teams strike water; entire villages erupt in celebration because a clean water source cuts a community's child mortality rate in half!
Your money will go a long way to help! Here are some examples: $10 can provide over two gallons of water a day for a Zambian family; $15 will provide over 1000 gallons of life giving water for one Zambian each year; $250 toward a well can provide the equivalent of more than a 50 gallon drum of water each day! Donating through this website is simple, safe, and totally secure and is the most efficient way to sponsor us. If you would like to pay by check or donate cash, please give these directly to the team member that you are sponsoring and we will make sure it gets directly to World Vision. Checks are to be made out to World Vision. You will receive a tax deductible receipt for your online donation and check donation.
"Let us not Love with words or tongue but with actions and truth." I John 3:18
ELEVATE ACTION:
We plan to climb Mount Rainier at the end of July 2006. We ask that you would begin or continue praying for God's provision for Africa, for elevated awareness of the AIDS crisis, and for good weather, fellowship, and safety for our trip. We also ask that you would help us save lives by giving. Furthermore, please help us elevate awareness; tell your friends and family to check out the linked websites below. This team has learned that we have been blessed so that we can have the privilege to bless others. Join us in being a blessing to those who desperately need It.
The team and various sponsors are covering the trip costs so that every dollar you donate will go directly to World Vision to help fight AIDS and poverty and support children and families in Zambia. Again, we are not asking you to give to us so that we may go; we are asking you to join us in the fight against poverty and AIDS. Sponsor us now and save lives; it only takes a few minutes.
We believe that is no longer okay to stand by and watch, even from a distance, as countless men, women and children die needlessly. It is our responsibility to love and support these people. This is just one way of doing that, if you are interested in learning more about this project or other similar projects, please visit the following websites:
