On May 30th, 2009 I am going to strap 30lbs of water (half my weight) onto my back and walk for 5 kilometers to raise money for Water 1st International.

A woman from Water 1st came to our school and explained her work.   Many people in the world don't have clean or close-by water. Millions of girls, even younger then me spend most of their time carrying water to their homes for their families.  This takes up so much time the girls can't go to school. And even with all that work often the water is contaminated and dangerous.

I want to raise lots of money to pay for wells and water systems so that these girls can have safe, clean water and so they can also go to school.

Your $10 will help someone know they are not alone with their challenges.

Your $50 will ensure safe water for one child for his/her entire life.

Your $100 will cover the salary of a health and sanitation educator for two months.

Your $250 will pay a construction technician for five months.

Your $500 will provide 500 feet of PVC pipe for a water system serving hundreds.

Your $1000 will drill a deep well and install a hand pump to serve hundreds.
