Dear Family and Friends,
This will be our 6th Buddy Walk. Each year we recruit walkers to join us in the fun as well as collecting pledges. The Buddy Walk is a day of fun that allows the community to come together to promote awareness and acceptance for those who have down syndrome. The pledges raised go to the community and to the National Down Syndrome Society to support in aiding families, research, and education.
We are honored as a family to be apart of such a wonderful community and event. By helping us raise funds you are helping us and many people in Brevard County. Emily has benefitted greatly from the buddy funds raised, F.E.D.S (Family Exploring Down Syndrome) of Brevard has paid for Emily to participate in gymnastics, they paid for Emily's visit to the Hope Haven in Jacksonville to be assessed by specialist in down syndrome and they are currently helping to pay for private speech therapy. On top of that they are readily available to help families going through the many crossroads providing unconditional support, information and are well known to go above and beyond in all situations.
This year Emily turned 7 and is proud to be in Kindergarten again, "Every thing you need to know you learn in Kindergarten"! She has made so many friends and is doing an incredible job. She is in a regular education classroom all day, has a wonderful teacher and is enjoying every minute of it! She has grown so much and we are so very proud of her. Emily continues to amaze us, with her determination and motivation to keep trying and doing.
As many of you know the road that we travel has been filled with many bumps and turns, stopping along the way many times to take a moment to enjoy our journey. We are so blessed to have the much needed support of our family, friends and community. We know that we travel not alone, and are so grateful for that.
Please help us continue to raise awareness and funds for our community. .
All our thanks and love,
Russell, Amber, Miranda, Megan, Emily and Averi Foster
