In the southern African nation of Lesotho, 30% of the population is infected with HIV/AIDS. Children are orphaned daily, mothers watch their children pass from them, and fathers see their families disintegrate under the ravages of this deadly disease. It is a stark reality, but reality none-the-less. And government statistics indicate that the epidemic will grow over the next several years!
World Vision, an international relief agency, is working hard in Lesotho to bring hope and physical relief to these children and families. This July I will be participating in Mission 360, a 6-day, 360-mile bicycle ride down the coast of California to raise funds to support World Vision's work. To many, the task of alleviating the HIV/AIDS crisis seems overwhelming and even hopeless-but there is hope! World Vision offers food, medicine, home-based care volunteers, and the love of God to children, mothers, and fathers who are suffering from HIV/AIDS and /or who have lost someone to it.
Your donation, in support of these efforts, can make all the difference in the lives of children and families in need. Here are some examples:
- $ 25 can provide an orphan care kit (nutritious food, basic medicines, etc.)
- $ 50 can provide adult assistance and counseling for a vulnerable child
- $100 can help provide a home for an HIV/AIDS affected family
Please join me in supplying hope to those without hope by contributing to my efforts in the Mission 360 bicycle ride. Donating is easy, fast and totally secure. World Vision has the highest reputation for integrity and your gift will change the life of a child and his/her family!
Thank you for your kindness, Emily Ingerburg Kendall
