Hi folks, Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for yet another athletic endurance test/bucket list item. Maybe this will be an annual tradition because you can never give or exercise too much. Well, the former at least. Last year, I rode my bike down the Pacific Coast. This year, I'll be running my first ever marathon on October 11th in Baltimore. And, if I'm feeling gutsy (and I somehow don't hurt myself) I will maybe run another marathon the following month. This year, I'm raising money for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). MSF is a secular humanitarian-aid non-governmental organization best-known for working in war-torn regions and developing countries facing endemic diseases like malaria and HIV/AIDS. Founded on the belief that all people have the right to medical care regardless of race, religion, creed, or political affiliation, MSF provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, and to victims of armed conflict. Give a dollar to cover each of these crises. Or if you owe me a drink, give this much and we're even, which is totally a bargain for you New Yorkers. $19.99 - the year MSF received the Nobel Peace Prize $26.20 - The number of miles in a marathon, which I will be running. ouch. $64 - the number of surgeries, in thousands, MSF conducted in 2006. $99 - the number of babies, in thousands, MSF helped deliver in crisis environments in 2006. $190 - The unrealistically low number of minutes I would love to finish in, which would qualify me for Boston, which would be totally sweet and give me all sorts of bragging rights. Really, though, any amount is appreciated. Let's shoot for at least two thousand dollars this year. Give what you can, but dig deep because no matter how big it is, your contribution is great.
