In March of this year my husband, David, was blessed with the opportunity to visit Africa and the children we sponsor through World Vision.  Words cannot describe the joy that God has brought into our lives through helping these beautiful kids and their familes! 

In Africa, an entire generation is dying. Mothers. Fathers. Teachers. Farmers. Even pastors. Working men and women. Dead.

15 million children have been orphaned due to AIDS and every day more than 29,000 children die, mostly due to preventable/treatable diseases and a lack of clean water.  

This is not a hopeless situation. Not if people like us are willing to stand up and use their One Life to Do Something about it.

I have decided to do something about it. World Vision is a Christian Humanitarian Relief and Development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. Through Team World Vision I will join 500 other World Vision champions at the Chicago Marathon to raise funds for the Maternal and Child Nutrition Initiative focused in Ethiopia and Zambia.  

My prayer is that God will use me in this event to make a difference and that 26 children will receive the life changing gift of annual sponsorship.  That's 1 child for every mile of this marathon.
