FIRST DOWNS FOR DOWN SYNDROME Benefiting Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa

First Downs for Down Syndrome is a program that was started by Legendary Coach Gene Stallings. It is a joint effort between High School Football Teams and the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa. The program became truly successful after the Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Line became involved in the early 1990’s.

All money collected will be donated to the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa and used to provide disability awareness materials to local schools.

To learn more about First Downs for Down Syndrome or if your high school football team would like to be involved, please contact Alana Kennon at publicity@dsat.org. In 2008, Union Redskin Football Team became the 1st high school football team in the Tulsa area to participate in the First Downs for Down Syndrome program. (www.unionredskinsfootball.com).

Down syndrome is the most commonly occurring genetic condition and is one of the leading causes of intellectual disabilities in the world. However, we are all more alike than different and if given the opportunity, individuals with Down syndrome can be an invaluable addition to our community.
