For every $1 donated to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, we can provide $9 worth of food.

Hunger and food insecurity in our region are very real problems. In Western Massachusetts, one in every eight residents doesn't always know where their next meal will come from. For children under the age of eighteen, that number is almost one in four, the highest child food insecurity rate in the state.

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts serves Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. Hunger manifests across the region in many different ways and can be related to a myriad of problems, like inner-city poverty in Springfield, or limited food access and little to no public transportation in the rural hilltowns of Berkshire County. In response, we work with our communities to reduce hunger and increase food security by distributing food throughout a network of more than 300 member agencies to over 135,000 of our neighbors in need of food assistance. In addition to distributing food, our Network Capacity Building department works to strengthen the emergency food network in Western Mass., bringing together agencies to share best practices, access resources, and improve service.

Our work is made possible by the generosity of individuals, foundations, and businesses through contributions, special events (like Will Bike 4 Food and the biennial Food Bank Gala), and grants.
