Thank you for visiting our Teacher Champion Fundraising Page. We are participating in the 2008 Great American Teach-A-Thon this October.  Along with The Education Fund, We are working to inform the public about the challenges facing teachers today and the critical impact which teachers have on student achievement.  The Education Fund runs over a dozen programs ranging from Mini Teacher grants to large scale school improvements.  These programs have benefited over 370 schools, 22,000 teachers and over 360,000 students. We will be demonstrating our commitment to these issues by learning how to plan a lesson and then actually teaching this lesson in a public school classroom. We will be teaching 3 lessons at South Miami Middle School.

As FPL employees we are also using this opportunity to speak about our company's commitment to the environment and to the health and safety of the public. Our lesson plan describes the basics of power generation, transmission and distribution, and gives the student a brief introduction on nuclear power and renewable energy sources such as solar, ocean current, and wind generation.
