Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Many of you know about Remember the Rainbows and my connection to this wonderful organization. Just in case here's a recap for everyone..
Back in 2001 I decided to participate in the Avon Breast Cancer 3 Day and needed some extra movtivation especially for the long training walks. I was fortunate enough to find a team and 3 wonderful women, Sally, Jennie and Shelley. During our long walks Shelley shared a story of her friend Stacy and that her son Collin was battling leukemia at the tender age of 15 months. To say the least the family was devasted emotionally, but they were also struggling financially since some of the care was not covered by their insurance and often Stacy and her husband Kenny would have to take time off work to care for Collin. We bonded with this family and raised money, got Spiderman to visit and did anything we could to ease some pain for them. In 2003, after starting school, learning how to read(his dream) and meeting his new little brother Collin passed away.
After Collin's death we still kept in touch with Stacy and we wanted to do more. We found that many of the excellent organizations that help the family when Collin was alive, weren't prepared to help the family once the child had passed away. The families are often broken, divorce rates rise and they have difficulty rebuilding the family unit and focusing on having fun and joy as a family again. We knew this is what we needed to do, we need to help these families learn how to be a family again! They needed to know they didn't have to forget their child that passed away, but that is was ok to have fun again and move forward with out forgetting.
How do we do this? We started an organization called Remember the Rainbows. This nonprofit is a 100% volunteer base so funds raised don't go to salaries. They go to the families. Every year we provide free family fun events for the families we support. There is a Spring picnic, a summer weekend retreat, a New Years Eve party, sporting event tickets, plays etc. Take a look at our website at www.remembertherainbows.org and check out the pictures. These events are filled with laughter and tears, but they are wonderful and we need to be able to continue to support these families. Until there is a cure for Cancer our families will keep coming and we don't want to turn anyone away. Your donation will help us do this. Remember the Rainbows is my dream and I hope you will be able to help us with our fundraiser this year. Any donation is appreciated!!!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
With heartfelt Thanks!
