Dear supporter,
Yes, I ran and finished my second marathon on 1 November 2009 to help support children and families through Team World Vision.
For the same reason, in 2008, I ran and completed the Chicago Marathon (http://www.firstgiving.com/freddoulton.457606) and collected over $3000. This year, it's been harder... not the running... but the fund-raising... so please help.
As you may know, my story is one of tragedy and triumph, of major heart surgery in in 2006 and faith! This year, I found out that my excruciating back pain was from a second herniated disc (L4/L5) just two months before the NYC marathon! Now, I think I may have discovered a cure for herniated discs... it takes a back brace and 26.2 miles :-)
On a more serious note, World Vision tackles the root causes of poverty in some of the poorest regions of the world by working with children, families, and their communities to provide things like clean water, healthcare, nutritious food, education, and jobs.
You can support my efforts through Team World Vision by making a one-time tax-deductible donation. All the money goes to World Vision.
I care, and so I run!
Sincerely,
Fred "I can do everthing in Him who gives me strength..." Philippians 4:13
