This is our 4th annual 300 Miles for Mentoring Ride. This event is a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County & North Lake Tahoe. Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations are supported entirely at the local level. They receive no State or National affiliation funding. The important work done by volunteers and donors keeps our program alive and helps support over 200 local matches.
A match is a one on one relationship between a caring and responsible adult mentor and a child who needs attention. Last year we raised over $19,000 that helped create 15 new relationships. Some of these relationships will span years; all of these relationships provide support, guidance, and a positive role model to children who desperately need that in their lives. 100% of your donations to this event go entirely and directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters to make a positive impact on the lives of children locally.
We are riding non-stop from Truckee to San Francisco this year. We hope to complete the ride in 24 hours. It is a challenging and rewarding journey for the riders, support crew, and volunteers that make this event possible. While riding in years past our conversation always turns, at some point, to gratitude and hope. In the late hours of the night while we ride our way to the finish we each seem to recap what we are thankful for and what we want for our families and for our community. It's a special time for all those involved. These moments are the reason we ride.
While we understand that not all people can be with us on the road, it is our hope you take this journey with us every year. You can make a difference! You can help provide kids with the things they are grateful for, the most important of which is a responsible, caring, and stable relationship with someone who cares.
Thank you for your support.
