Three years ago I made a commitment to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County. I pledged to ride in the Everest Challenge Race to raise money for their program and raise awareness for the important work this organization does on behalf of children everywhere. It was a great event and a huge success.
Last year we decided to further challenge ourselves by riding across California. I had the privilege of riding the 30 hour event with my good friends Carey Thrasher and Ken Bossung. We felt a mutual sense of inspiration as we rode through the night thinking of the important people who reach out and help children in our community. Carey and Ken and I feel privileged to have participated in this event.
This year we are adding three athletes to the journey. Scott Hanson, Mark Hockridge, and Chris Barry will join Carey, Ken and I on a 325 mile journey from Truckee to Sacramento and back on September 17th & 18th. This group has a deep understanding of ultra-distance endurance events. I feel very confident embarking on a difficult ride with these exceptional athletes and being a member of this qualified group.
This year’s course will take the riders and volunteers from Truckee to Sacramento and back. We expect the ride to take about thirty (30) hours. If you want to ride with us, cheer us on, or simply follow our progress you can get up to the minute information on Twitter, (http://twitter.com/TahoeStaffTeam).
On behalf of Carey Thrasher, Ken Bossung, Scott Hanson, Mark Hockridge, and Chris Barry and myself I want to thank you for your support.
