I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 28. At the same time that I was trying to figure out my career and my personal life, I had to deal with chemotherapy, hair loss, surgeries, radiation, and feeling that my body had betrayed me. Four years later I underwent genetic testing, and I found out that I carry a genetic mutation that makes me more susceptible to breast and ovarian cancer. I also found out, through FORCE, that I am not alone.
Thousands of women and men struggle to conquer their genetic heritage. FORCE supports us all through our individual journeys. I know that the organization was invaluable to me as I faced very difficult decisions concerning my own risk for another cancer diagnosis. I went to FORCE for emotional support, for the latest medical research available, for information about treatment and surgical options, and sometimes just to remind myself that I am not alone.
Thank you for considering making a donation to FORCE. I am grateful, as are thousands of women and men who, like me, look to FORCE to light up the genetic unknown.
