Cortland County Council of Churches and Clinton Avenue
Description:
Each year people put a great deal of thought and effort into giving gifts to the people they love and care for. And undoubtedly each year, one person on that list already has “everything.” This results in the inevitable question, “what do I give the person who has everything?” Alternative giving is a great way to give a gift to that difficult to shop for person.
Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties and the Cortland County Council of Churches (4C) have partnered to begin fundraising for the house that Habitat is now building on Clinton Avenue in Cortland, in. Habitat builds simple, decent, affordable homes for deserving low-income families and relies heavily on the support of volunteers and donations to construct these homes! We have a lofty, $90,000 overall fundraising goal for the home but donations of any size are a big help. The 4C group already raised over $3,000 froma concert series entitled 'Music From the Center' in which local talents donate their time to play and a free offering is given! The group is continuing with the current fall series, and they are in the process of planning a spring series. Our partner family at Clinton Avenue is Eric and Jennifer Underwoord and their daughters Carlene, age 10; and Lacee, age 1. They are thrilled to be working with Habitat to achieve their dream of homeownership, and they are happy to be helping build a home that is suited for their needs. As we celebrate the holidays with family and friends in our own homes, consider the joy that you’ll be bringing to a local family in need by helping them have a home of their own, too.
