Walk & Roll for Kids
This is my good friend, Dustin.
Like all the kids who benefit from the KIDS CENTER for PEDIATRIC THERAPIES he is reminding us in the community to "see his ability". And that is the reason I am again walking in this years annual fund raiser the Walk and Roll for Kids.
We have two guiding principles at the Kids Center: See the ability in the disability and no child will be denied services because of the lack of finances. This latter principle has its challenges, however. Because we subsidize most of the care our children recieve, each year we encounter a budget deficit that runs about $700,000. By supporting me in my walk effort your donations help offset this deficit. For every $20 you donate we are able to supply an hour of "KIDS care" for our clients. Every $1000 generated helps support a child for a year.
These are hard times for all parents but more so for those with a handicapped child. Many have lost employment and, subsequently, insurance. Others have insurance that either does not recognize their child's need for therapy or under pays for services.
We cannot deny these kids and their families an opportunity to succeed in this life. So I will be walking with them on May 21, 2011 to help raise the necessary funds to keep OUR kids in the center where they can continue to receive hands on therapies that will develop their abilities.
Please help me to meet my goal to support 5 kids, like Dustin, for one year of therapy. Like every child our kids have their dreams. Dustin, inspite of his obvious limitations, sees himself as an athlete and dreams to play football for the University of Tennessee. His mind is that of a smart typical active teenager who works hard at school and wants to be independent as an adult. Having been at the center since infancy, he is now working on skills that will help him transition into adulthood. Currently he is on a wheel chair indoor soccer team.
Any contribution you can make is appreciated. If you are uncomfortable about donating on line you can send your donation to my home : 1763 Casselberry Rd., Louisville, 40205.
Thanks. Thanks for making a difference in the life of a child and the families that love them.
