You may have hated it in fourth grade, but you'll love our first-ever LETR Oregon Dodgeball Tournament. Get on the court and put yourself on the line for Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Oregon and Special Olympics Oregon.
Team captains must register their team with the $250 team registration fee online by May 11, 2012. All players must be 18 years of age or older. Team composition is 6-10 players (no gender requirement). Six players must be present to start a match; a team can have a maximum of 10 players on their roster. Note: An individual is only allowed to play on one team roster. During team check-in on the day of the event, player contact information and waivers will be collected. Tournament t-shirts are provided with the team registration fee and will be distributed at team check-in.
Team check-in begins at 8 a.m., pool play begin at 9 a.m., championship bracket play will begin around 2:30 p.m., and award presentation will begin around 4 p.m.
A maximum of 32 teams will be allowed into the tournament, so sign up early to guarantee your spot. Teams will be randomly assigned to one of 8 pools for pool play. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 2 matches (matches consist of the best 2 of 3 games, with a 15-minute maximum). Winners of each pool will advance to championship bracket play. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Additional fundraising is strongly encouraged and all proceeds benefit Special Olympics Oregon - Multnomah County. Fundraising trophies (1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be awarded to teams that raise the most money.
Roosevelt High School will be selling a variety of refreshments throughout the day through their concession stand.
Game start times, team brackets and complete tournament rules will be emailed to team captains by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16.
