Save the Children - Japan Disaster Relief
GPI / Greenman-Pedersen, Inc.
On March 11, 2011 magnitude-9.0 earthquake hit off the shore of Japan, unleashing a 23-foot (seven-meter) tsunami and leaving enormous destruction in its wake. Thousands have been killed in this disaster and thousands have been left homeless, as the tsunami swept through, causing mass destruction and setting off widespread fires that burned out of control. At the Fukushima nuclear plant, the quake unleased a chain of events that have resulted in massive explosions which threaten surrounding communities. Japan is in a state of emergency.
Save the Children has a team in Sendai, one of the worst-affected areas, establishing an operations base to help the most vulnerable children and their families.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
