Girls Climbing High: Mt. Marcy hike for Girls Inc.
GIRLS CLIMBING HIGH
Hi, our names are Erin and Rachel and we are currently seniors at Oneonta High School in upstate New York. In our English class, we were presented with an opportunity to complete the project "we were never assigned in high school, but wish we had been." After much thought and exchange of ideas, we decided that we would like to complete a physical challenge for a cause.
We immediately thought of Mt. Marcy, the highest peak in New York State and the Adirondack Mountains, at 1,629 meters - about a mile - high. Our English teacher, Mr. Morelli, suggested a theme of female empowerment. Some online research pointed us in the direction of Girls Inc...
Girls Inc. is a nonprofit organization that “inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through life-changing programs and experiences that help girls navigate gender, economic, and social barriers." Every year, Girls Inc. helps 125,000 girls across the U.S. and Canada, ages 6-18, to reach new heights.
Please help us achieve our goal of raising $1,629 - a dollar for every meter we will climb this Memorial Day Weekend - by donating or pledging for every meter we will climb. (For example, a donation of a penny per meter amounts to a $16 donation.) We have already raised $684 dollars in our area, and need $945 to reach our goal.
Donating through this website is simple, fast, secure and the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
All donated money will go directly to Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region. We thank you for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate as well! We, Girls Inc., and the girls they empower greatly appreciate it.
