Huntington's Disease May Take Our Bodies But Never Our Spirit
My Dad should be a lesson to us all. Despite the ravages of HD, his spirit was never broken! I want to honor his memory by raising funds for research for a treatment/cure as well as help for families devastated by Huntington's Disease.

...and who doesn't love a beach? Please send a link to this page to your Facebook friends, Twitter followers, and any others. Thanks!
Hey Dad,
I'm sad you're not with us anymore here on earth, but I'm so happy that you're finally rid of the evil of Huntington's Disease. It sure did a number, didn't it? I want to raise money for the Huntington's Disease Society of America in your name. The scientists are getting closer than ever to a treatment for HD. Wouldn't that be something? I love you Dad, and I miss you. Thanks for watching over us every moment of every day.
Love, Patty
For those unfamiliar with HD and the HDSA, please take a moment to read the information below from the HDSA. Donated funds not only help in research for a treatment or cure for HD, but they also help families in need.
Huntington's Disease (HD) is a devastating, hereditary, degenerative brain disorder that results in a loss of cognitive, behavioral and physical control, and for which, presently, there is no treatment or cure. HD slowly diminishes the affected individual's ability to walk, think, talk and reason. Symptoms usually appear in an individual between 30 and 50 years of age and progress over a 10 to 25 year period. Eventually, a person with HD becomes totally dependent upon others for his or her care. More than 30,000 people in the United States are currently diagnosed with HD and 200,000 are at-risk.. Each of their siblings and children has a 50 percent risk of developing the disease. Although medications can relieve some symptoms in certain individuals, research has yet to find a means of conquering or even slowing the deadly progression of HD.
The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is the largest 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s Disease. The Society works tirelessly to provide the family services, education, advocacy and research to provide help for today, hope for tomorrow to the more than 30,000 people diagnosed with HD and the 250,000 at-risk in the United States. The Society is comprised of 39 local chapters and affiliates across the country.
Thanks again to all my friends!
