Kiss Carpet proudly Presents....Golf Scramble on August 12, 2012 at Hawk's Eye Golf Course in Bellaire to benefit Rett Syndrome Research
Dear Family and Friends,
We are hosting a golf scramble to benefit two children's charities, Cystic Fibrosis and Rett Syndrome. Both are genetic disorders that researchers are working tirelessly to find a cure. We are also hoping to raise awareness for these disorders to encourage more funding to find a cure.
Jacalyn is 3 years old now and is unable to walk and talk. She is also challenged at feeding time, as chewing and swallowing are very hard for her to do. Feeding becomes such a chore at times, she would rather not eat. She has a beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eyes.
When Jacalyn was born there was no indication of Rett Syndrome. Typically and with Jacalyn, at a year old she seemed a little slow with large motor skills. She didn't crawl but could play with her toys. Then at eighteen months she became unable to use her hands to play with her toys. She can scoop up her favorite stuffed lamb but is unable to play. She is intelligent, loves to be around other children and laughs out loud at Elmo movies. She is learning to look at the object she wants during feeding time so her dad can tell when she wants a drink or if she wants more to eat.
Recently, as we prepared to leave on a road trip, she started moving her eyes toward the DVD player. We could tell her we would start it for her as soon as we started the van. Please view www.rettsyndrome.org for a list of new research and clinica trials.
