On Feb. 22, I will be leading a group of St. Louis Rams fans into the frigid winter waters of Carlyle Lake to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. Having dedicated my life to athletics, I have a great appreciation for the power of sports.
Special Olympics helps individuals with intellectual athletes build their courage, strength, and self-esteem through the platform of sports training and competition. It is for this reason that I am proud to have the opportunity to “be bold and get cold” for the 21,300 Special Olympics athletes participating in Illinois.
I encourage all St. Louis Rams fans to join me on Team Johnny Hekker. As an added incentive for joining, the top fundraiser on Team Johnny Hekker top will receive 4 pre-game passes and tickets to a 2014 St. Louis Rams game.
To chicken to plunge? You can still support this “cool” cause by donating to my page. Any amount is appreciated and all of your donation helps provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in year-round sports training and competition.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois. If you would like to learn more about this “official event of winter,” visit www.plungeillinois.com for all of the chilly details.
Many thanks for your support – and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
