Thank you for visiting Johnny's fundraising page!
Here is a little about Johnny! He is a vibrant and happy 6 year old boy. John was born in October 2005 and diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis form 1 at the age of 3 months due to a family history of the condition and a large number of cafe au lait spots. He began yearly MRIs to check for tumors at age 3. Soon after the pediatrician noticed a delay in his speech. He was sent to an ENT who diagnosed a moderate hearing loss in both ears and prescribed hearing aids. He loved being able to hear and was excited everyday to put his "ears" in. After 6 months he no longer wanted to have his aids in and was once agin given hearing tests that showed NO hearing loss. In fact he has extraordinary hearing and is sensitive to loud noises. That was our first miracle! Then in January of 2012, after an MRI showing a large optic glioma (tumor on his optic nerve pathway) he began chemotherapy to decrease the size of the tumor since it was affecting his vision. Throughout his chemotherapy John has been amazing. His body has held up good with little side effects. And now after 8 months the tumor is nearly depleted. Just 4 more months to go! This is our second miracle!! Now we are raising awareness and money for research into this all too common and little known condition. Thank you for any help you can give us with this endeavor.
