This is a picture of me and Kim at last year's Pittsburgh Marathon.  This year will be the third year she and I have fundraised for Gilda's Club of Western Pennsylvania.

Kim inspired me to run my first marathon in 2009 in her honor to raise funds for Gilda's Club.  Gilda's Clubhouse in the Strip District is a  phenomenal facility with an amazing staff that offers needed emotional wellness services to all people whose lives have been touched by the scourge of cancer.  Taking over where the medical community leaves off, Gilda's can be a support group for a grieving parent, day camp for a child with a heavy load on her heart, a first yoga class for someone coming to grips with losing their hair, a library of cancer-related resources and Internet access, lectures on gardening, cooking, promising new medical research, and the list goes on and on.

I wish so much I could do something, anything, to cure Kim of her disease.  It's given me a measure of peace to try and help an organization that has offered so much to her, her family, and our community.
