I noticed 3 chihuahuas loose in the park across the street from my office in South El Monte at the end of last week.  After observing them, it became obvious that someone had abandoned them and dumped them in the park to die.  Their options were grim - slowly starve, eaten by coyotes or eagles, hit by a car... nothing good was waiting for these 3 little girls.

A rescue friend who is very good at catching dogs was able to come out on Tuesday and catch all 3 dogs - chihuahuas in an open park was a big challenge, but with chicken breasts and patience, she got them in less than 2 hours.  One of the dogs had become noticeably weaker than when I first saw them several days before, she was starving to death and fighting an eye infection on top of that. 

I took them to my Vet in Manhattan Beach where they have received their exams, shots and initial care (thanks to 2 wonderful and generous friends who had called ahead to authorize their care).  A rescue that thought one of the dogs was pregnant had agreed to take them all in, provide their care and find them homes and was planning to pick them up yesterday.  When my Vet determined that she was not pregnant, just a 'big girl', the rescue backed out.  So, I am trying to put the rest of this together by myself and save these 3 sweet girls that deserve a chance for a good life. 

Moving forward, Karma Rescue has stepped in to help me pull this all together, but I desperately need to do a fundraiser to help cover the rest of the medical needs for these 3 girls.  They all need to be spayed, all have dental needs, one has an eye that needs to come out, one has a eye that needs treatment for a corneal ulcer, etc. ... these 3 have had a hard life in their 5 short years.  In spite of that, the Vet says they are very healthy and once they get the medical attention they need, they will be in great shape.

If anyone can help donate toward the medical needs for these 3 girls, it takes them one step closer to finally find their forever homes where they will never be tossed out in a field and left to die again.  Please help in any way you can -
