Kristine Runs for a Life Without Lupus
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, specifically Lupus Nephritis in May of 2009. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disorder that affects 1.5 million Americans, primarily women between 18 and 44. The past two and a half years have been both a physical and emotional battle to get my Lupus in control. While I am not quite in remission, my body and mind have reached a new sense or normalcy thanks to a great team of doctors and the love and daily support of my family and friends.
I decided to run the New York City Half Marathon with Team Life Without Lupus to symbolize a pseudo end to what has been a long and hard journey for my family and I. As Lupus is a chronic illness, I will always have to deal with this disease to some level, until we can find a cure. I hope that with the completion of this marathon, I will leave the worst behind me.
I would love to find a cure for Lupus, and have committed to raise $1,300 for the S.L.E Lupus Foundation. The Foundation promotes early diagnosis and funds innovative Lupus research to identify new treatements, causes, and a cure for this devastating disease. Please help me reach my fundraising goal. With your donation, you are not just supporting my personal battles with Lupus, but moving us closer to a life without the everyday struggles of this complicated illness.
Many thanks for your support and donations -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Love Kristine
