THE BELL CENTER FOR EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMS

2012 BellRunners/Mercedes Marathon (Formerly Partners In Training) Birmingham,  Alabama

RUNNING FOR LUKE

Year 2 – Help Us Help LUKE and The Bell Center…Again!

Thanks to all of you who supported last year and Emily Roberts for running 13.1 miles in honor of Luke. Being our first year to be involved with the Bell Center’s Mercedes Marathon fundraising efforts, it was beyond our greatest expectations by doubling our initial goal. This event raises about 35% of the Bell Center’s annual budget each year.

We are looking to raise the bar this year, and I have laced up my sneakers to participate this year. Not ready to tackle the 13.1 half-marathon myself, Emily and I (Will) along with a few other friends and family members are running in the Mercedes Marathon 26.2 mile relay.

It’s hard to believe but Luke will turn 2 on January 27, 2012. He is going to the Bell Center on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:15 – 10:15 where he receives physical, occupational and speech therapy services in each session. At home, he keeps us on our feet chasing him around ensuring he does not cause bodily harm. Outside the house, whether at the grocery store, church, etc., he truly has a way of brightening a stranger’s day with his sweet smile, funny laugh, or non-stop waving. We decided it was too early for Luke to experience Gameday at Tuscaloosa this football season, but he has enjoyed watching the Tide on TV and signaling ‘Touchdown BAMA’ throughout the season.

Rachel and I are very thankful for the work that the Bell Center does and the services that they provide to Luke and the other children. We have talked to others families that either do not live in Birmingham or that may have older children who wish that their children had access to a facility such as The Bell Center. Therefore, we ask that you help ensure the Bell Center is able to continue its mission of maximizing the potential of children from birth to three years of age who are at risk for developmental delay by donating to LUKE’S TEAM.

Thank you for visiting our page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
