Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! We are raising pledges for New Haven Urban Resources Initiative's tree preservation efforts.
This New Haven Elm has had its root flare cut to accommodate the grate. This tree and hundreds more around our fair city are entombed in tree grates and concrete coffins. With a little effort, thought and the right tools we can save most of these magestic trees. In this case an ounce of prevention is worth five pounds of cure. The larger trees grow and the older they are, the more community services they provide such as air filtration, shade, storm water management, beauty, and most importantly making cities livable.
Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a concrete floor saw, so we can liberate these trees and prevent further damage to city sidewalks. We will be training and utilizing our Greenskills teams to do this work. This will provide second chance folks an opportunity to do meaningful work and learn skills applicable in many construction industries.
