Sarah
Update 7-14-11
I went to see Sarah tonight and drop off a few things for her and she is doing great after her first injection to fight heartworm. She is in good spirits, a little chubbier due to not being allowed to exercise, but she has responded well so far. She gets a "double dose" next weekend - a shot Friday morning, then another Saturday morning. She should (hopefully!) be finished with her injections after that. Initially, the medicine is hard on her system, but she recovers pretty well within a day or so.
Hi, everyone! My name is Sarah. I am a very sweet 5 year old cattle dog mix. I came to New Hope Cattle Dogs when my previous owner was evicted from his apartment. He left me and my brother (who went to another rescue) behind to fend for ourselves. The landlord found us and kept us safe until New Hope could come and get me. Im currently in a foster home where I am loved dearly. In my previous life, I was an outside-only dog. When I got to my foster home, I had to learn that it was ok for me to be in the house. I wasnt so sure at first, but now Ive got this indoor living down pat! I am a good girl in the house. I havent had any potty accidents! My foster family has cats and I do really well with them, too. Im not really interested in playing with other dogs, but I sure do love to go for a walk and cuddle.
One of the things that New Hope Cattle Dogs does when they take a dog in is to have them tested for heartworm. For most dogs, this test result shows that they dont have heartworm. However, my test results showed that I do have heartworm. So, now, I have to go through treatment to kill the worms. Dr. Wolf at Higley Road Pet Clinic is going to take good care of me and help me get rid of these worms. Its going to be a hard treatment to go through, but Im expected to be good as new when were all done! The treatment is going to be costly for the rescue, even with the discount from Dr. Wolf. Wont you please consider giving even a small donation to help pay for my treatment?
