Penguin Plunge Whitefish,  Montana

Matt Sundelius's Fundraising Page

2010 PENGUIN PLUNGE - FEBRUARY 6TH - WHITEFISH CITY BEACH - NOON

This year my Plunge is dedicated to the memory of Kevin Bolme.  Kevin passed away much too early, last October.  He was very active in Special Olympics and it is a true honor to jump for him this year and continue supporting those truely blessed men and women.  The following is a quick bio of Kevin's Special Olympic history and accomplishments, sent by his family.

Kevin started Special Olympics playing basketball when he was 8 years old. He was still playing basketball and getting ready for the annual basketball Special Olympics when he passed away 21 years later. He took part is sports year round and was able to compete in many different activities. These included track and field events, snow skiing (Matt's mom taught him), gymnastics, power lifting, bowling, swimming, and softball. A highlight of his Special Olympics life was competing in the 1995 Special Olympics World Games. Kevin competed in gymnastics, doing floor exercise, vault and parallel bars. He brought home 2 bronze medals and a gold medal. He was on 2 different unified teams, one in softball, and one in basketball. His basketball team won the gold after 3 overtimes!

Special Olympics also gave Kevin the opportunity to make new friends, take part in public speaking events, and have fun. His favorite part was getting to stay at a motel with his friends.

After 21 years, Special Olympics was still very important to Kevin.  It was an opportunity for him to excel and be cheered. He was just as excited about going to basketball as he was the first year he competed.

Kevin was able to give back to Special Olympics by taking part in the “Plunge”. He jumped 3 times, and was the high fund raiser one year.

Thank you for supporting Special Olympics by supporting Matt as he jumps into Whitefish Lake in February.

If each of us could experience a small part of the joy Kevin felt in participating, not just winning, we would all be blessed.  -The Bolme Family

I am also extending a business challenge this year.  The business with the highest donation by February 5th will get advertising at the Plunge on my more than ample belly.  Yep, bellyboard advertising.  Don't pass this up!  Many media outlets cover the plunge as well as the hundreds in attendance.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Special Olympics Montana!  Help me reach my goal this year and make a donation.  Every little bit helps.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!  If you have questions please contact me at (406) 261-8286 or email me at: iamgriznation@hotmail.com
