WOW, what a year 2011 was. After Carly’s diagnosis in April 2011, our family and community came together, helping us raise over$100,000 toward the clinical drug trial happening this year – which will introduce the most promising drug yet for Carly and all the children with Progeria: Everolimus, a derivative of the immune-suppressing drug, rapamycin [in addition to 3 drugs that have already been shown to block progerin from developing.]
Everolimus has been shown to reduce the aging process by 50% in studies! Can you imagine the implications for Carly – as well as the rest of us - the aging public?!
We are so encouraged and hopeful about this new drug and look forward to beginning the treatments at Boston Childrens as soon as the FDA approval is complete. The trial will cost upwards of $3.5 million, so we will continue to work hard and your continued support will be critical to accomplishing our mission of treatments and a cure for children with Progeria. Thank you so much for your support!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
