Meet Rochelle from the Philippines
Rochelle is a vivacious 17 year old girl, the eldest of 5 sisters and 1 brother. Together with her mother, they reside in a humble shanty an hour north of Manila. Rochelle has Progeria, a rare genetic condition that causes advanced aging in children. When Dr. Jojo Sayson and his team of volunteers learned of Rochelle in 2011, they set out to make her wishes come true, including a family vacation and a reunion with her estranged father. Having granted those wishes, Dr. Sayson’s Project Michelangelo Foundation, based in Illinois, is now working with The Progeria Research Foundation to realize Rochelle’s new and most compelling wish: ”To live just a little longer.” By participating in the Progeria clinical drug trial in Boston, with a drug that is proven to give the children stronger hearts and longer lives, this wish can come true. Please help Rochelle by supporting her trial visits. It costs approximately $36,000 per child for the 2-year trial, and any amount helps get us closer to that goal.
