The NIMS Movement Fundraising Page
I have set up this fundraising page to raise money for Lung Cancer Awareness. My grandfather, William N. Nims was an amazing man that left his family too soon due to Lung Cancer.
William Nims was born in 1923 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Like most men in that era after being in the military, he began to smoke at a very young age. I'm sure no one, including him, expected that would be the reason he would pass away in 2002, over twenty years after he had stopped smoking.
He has left behind a broken hearted family in a wife, daughter, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family and friends.
My purpose is not to reflect on his death but to make people aware of his life and the wonderful person he was. Last year I contacted Governor Tim Kaine to have November declared Lung Cancer Awareness Month in the state of Virginia. I wanted to do more. I want to make people aware of the impact Lung Cancer has on people living with the disease and the people that are impacted by love ones they have lost.
Lung Cancer has become a part of my life and for that I would like to make people more aware of the impact it can have and try to raise money for a cure to help the so many people that have to live with this disease everyday.
I hope you will find it in your hearts to donate and help the many people fighting for this cause to make progress to help others have more time to enjoy life with every breath they take.
