Note: Because of the generosity of so many people, another incentive has been added: Not only will every person who donates to my cause be put in a raffle to win an autographed Rob Gronkowski picture, but a Jerod Mayo autographed football as well! 2 great prices!
Monday, April 15th, 2013, is a date that I will never forget. That day was accumulated by 4 ½ months of training, both physically and mentally, to reach a milestone that I viewed as impossible my entire life. That day started with excitement (and nervousness!) as I took part in one of Boston’s longest standing traditions, the Boston Marathon. That excitement quickly turned to panic as a result of senseless violence with meaningless purpose. The opportunity to run down Boylston Street and to cross the finish line amid thousands of spectators (which included my family and friends) is a significant part of the entire Boston Marathon experience. That was taken from me. When I was finally able to verbally speak with my family that day, my first words to my sister were: “I didn’t get to finish!” On Monday, April 21st, 2014, I will be back to finish what I started and cross that finish line. I will run for those injured, the lives lost, my family, my friends and all those who have, and continue to, support me. Please help me complete my journey.
I will once again be running for the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation. Last year, my team and I raised a record-breaking amount of $253,000 + (more than doubling the amount raised the previous year) I am proud to say that I personally raised $7,977 (almost doubling my own goal)! The Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards take place as part of the Patriots ongoing Celebrate Volunteerism initiative. In June 2013, the NEPCF awarded 26 recipients from all over New England who exemplified leadership, dedication and a commitment to improving their communities through volunteerism, with a total of $200,000. I was honored to be in attendance and meet a few of those winners. The remaining additional funds helped to support those affected by the Marathon tragedy via the One Fund.
I am all in for 2014 (in what I am sure will be a special day for all) and can’t do it without your support. I will once again hit the pavement with the long, cold (sometimes snowing or raining) Saturday runs and the arduous (but worth it!) hill training runs on Tuesday nights. Your support will keep me going throughout the months of training and mean a lot to me and the NEPCF award recipients of this year. Last year I was inspired and humbled by the encouragement, support and donations from countless individuals.
If you would prefer to write a check, please make it out to The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and mail it to me at my home address: 1101 Davenport Avenue, Canton, MA 02021.
Many thanks in advance for your support – and please don’t forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
