"There's no time to lose, I heard her say.
Catch your dreams before they slip away..."
- The Rolling Stones
Thank you for visiting this page devoted to the memory of Zoe Anderson, who passed away tragically on December 28, 2010, aged 24.
Zoe brought laughter and life wherever she went. She had a rare combination of left and right brain talents, brilliantly creative and insatiably curious. She was artist, photographer, neuroscientist, scuba dive-master, tutor, social connector, loving daughter, hilarious sister, passionate friend.
A life like that cannot just be cut short. She lives on in the lives and dreams of those who loved her... so we're going to do something tangible she would have been proud of.
We plan to use the funds raised here to protect an area of coral reef in her name. Zoe adored diving, adored the oceans and was aghast at their current rapid decline. Her name means 'life' and she would have absolutely loved the thought of a beautiful living ecosystem sustained by people who had been inspired by her.
Depending on how much we raise, we may be able to support photography and art projects in association with the reef. Certainly, her friends will be able to visit and snorkel or dive. We are actively investigating 3 or 4 candidate projects and will report back to all donors as soon as one is chosen.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and secure. The funds will be maintained in a separate fund at the Sapling Foundation (the private non-profit foundation which owns the TED Conference).
Many many thanks for remembering Zoe,
Zoe's Family
P.S. There's a memorial page on Facebook here.
