Hello!
Thank you for visiting my 10 Days of NYWC Fundraising Page!
If you're here, you probably know I am Founder and Executive Director of this fine organization. You may also know that I am not a slick fundraising type. We created the $10 donation drive, so the 99% or the 47% or the 2% low fat or whatever is the % of the day can give to NYWC and be part of our absurdly large and ever-growing movement to change who can be a writer. Bold move on our part huh?
The world has told our many of our workshop members that their voices are not as valuable as those with privilege. Our work proves that wrong every single day of the week. We run long-term, ongoing creative writing workshops serving 1,500 people a year! About half of our 40 workshops have been running for 3 or more years! One has even been runing for 9 years, with many of the same seniors attending week after week.
I am also hoping to prove the skeptics (whom I have made up for the purpose of this drive) wrong who say we can't raise at least $10,000 in 10 days, $10 at a time. (Tenth Anniversary, 10, get it?) If we meet this goal, everything we raise will be doubled by a non-skeptical awesome foundation that asked to remain anonymous. That''s how badass (love the bold button) these folks are.
So please donate $10 (or more, every donation will get matched if we raise at least 10k). Or you can even join me in this drive and have a shot at some awesome prizes. You can join a team too, so knocking on doors in a remote section of Staten Island wearing a girl scout uniform asking people for $10 for NYWC will be less lonely.
You can also come to our incredible events going on during the Ten Days of NYWC! I will be doing a reading at Arlene's Grocery on October 27 that I am super psyched about.
Seriously, raising money is tough, and we all get asked all the time for way more than we can donate to. But I can promise you, as the person who approves every single dollar we spend, that your $10 will be spent well and wisely. Your donation will benefit NY Writers Coalition’s free creative writing programs: Pens and notebooks for NYC youth. Transportation to and from reading events. Writing workshops for homeless, incarcerated, or disabled individuals. Your donation will continue to make this happen.
Thanks!
Aaron
P.S. Don't forget to forward this to anyone you think might want to donate too! Thanks again.
