Aaron Zimmerman's Fundraising Page
Hi, Thanks for visiting my 2010 NYWC Workshop Leader Challenge Fundraising Page!
We are conducting a drive to raise $20,000 by the end of the year for NY Writers Coalition, and enlisting the help of our amazing community of workshop leaders.
For those that know me, you know that I founded this organization after leading a creative writing workshop in supportive housing for the formerly homeless, people with HIV/AIDS and low income working people. People told me I was a little teched in the head to launch something like this, but as you can see in my photo, my therapist Bob Hartley said it was a fine idea.
Since 2002, we've gone from that one group serving 7 people, to having more than 1,000 people attend our workshops in the past year. This has been accomplished because of the talented writers that show up every week to write alongside people who might not otherwise know the beauty and power of their words: the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, war veterans, the homeless, immigrants, at-risk and disconnected youth, seniors, people with disabilities and major illness, and many others.
I hope you will join me in celebrating all the talented people in our community by making a donation in their honor -- all amounts, big and small will help us continue our innovative work. All funds raised in the drive will go towards the costs of paying modest stipends to our leaders and for the cost of printing books and holding readings by our writers.
Thanks!
Aaron
P.S. Don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Thanks again.
