Thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page!
Here is an updated picture of me and two of my four pets. Nutmeg is the chow/ terrier mix that I adopted 6 1/2 years ago, she is the reason I started to volunteer at Rescue Village "RV" . Aphikomin a min pin mix was adopted in April of 2007. I was proud that I had volunteered for almost 4 years without taking home a pet but I (or shall I say Howard) caved and we adopted him.
This is an amazing picture because it was taken by an amazing photographer that donates so much time to RV. I have meet some incredible people in the 6 years that I have been volunteering at RV. It is a family within the shelter, all there for the benefit of the animals. We come from so many different places, have different beliefs, different backgrounds, different personalities but when we all gather under the RV roof we become one. One person with the goal to make the animals under our roof happier, more comfortable, healthier and adoptable.
Not only do we walk the dogs, cuddle the cats, clean cages (or as some call them condos), train dogs, wash dogs, cats and dishes, educate the public, introduce people to their new best friends, we also gossip (it is mostly woman there), we laugh, we cry, we form a bond. RV is not only a place for animals to get a fresh start but also a place for people. Animal therapy does wonders for the young, old and everyone in between. Volunteering at RV is animal therapy at its finest. Some of our animals get adopted and become true therapists by becoming therapy dogs as Nutmeg did.
It is a true circle of giving that goes on under the RV roof. I really don't know who beneifts more from the donations that wonderful people like you give. The cats, dogs, birds, goats, horses, pigs, ferrets, or volunteers.
This year is especially hard on all of us. I am hoping with all my heart that you will be able to donate something to RV. Every little bit will help. Thanks so much for reading my story and thinking of donating. Please feel free to forward this page to your friends and family, or even making your own page, I dare you.
Love,
Abbie
