Hans Peter Kuhn: Acupuncture
This page is dedicated to fundraising for Acupuncture, a light sculpture to be installed on the roof of the Mattress Factory Museum's main galleries at 500 Sampsonia Way in Pittsburgh, PA. This new installation will change and shape the iconic Pittsburgh skyline!
This fundraising goal is only a small part of Acupuncture; it will cost $500,000 to put the light sculpture into place on the roof of the building. The Mattress Factory has made great progress raising money for Acupuncture, including the creation of engineering drawings, building models, architectural plans and acquiring building permits. Additionally, this sculpture will need a strong foundation, and the Mattress Factory has already secured funding for a complete reconstruction plan for the gallery roof at 500 Sampsonia Way. The Museum will continue to raise money for the completion of the sculpture.
Hans Peter Kuhn is a sound artist and composer born in 1952 in Kiel, Germany, who lives and works in Berlin. In addition, Kuhn is a light installation artist who transforms urban spaces all over the world into fascinating, radiant sites. He was awarded the “Golden Lion” of the Venice Biennale in 1993 for the installation “Memory/Loss”, which was co-created with Robert Wilson. He has shown internationally and has published several art books. On October 6, 2011, the Mattress Factory will welcome Kuhn back to Pittsburgh to kick off the final phase of fundraising for the permanent light installation he created specifically for the rooftop of the Mattress Factory building.
The Mattress Factory has raised a substantial amount of money for this project, and they need your support to complete it. Every dollar helps! Donating through FirstGiving is one of the most efficient ways to support the museum’s fundraising efforts.
