The Make‐A‐Wish® mission is to grant wishes to children with life‐threatening
medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
We believe that childhood is a time when everything is possible and nothing seems out of reach. It is a time to dream, a time for magic. But for our wish children, the magic has been overshadowed by the daily doses of doctors’ visits, hospital stay, medications and treatments. And it is not fair. Therefore, our Foundation strives to bring the magic of childhood back into the lives of our wish children. The goal in fulfilling the one‐true‐wish is to rekindle the excitement and anticipation often felt throughout childhood. To achieve this goal, the Foundation creates a wish experience that will sprinkle magic and show the power in the phrase “I wish...”
Take the First Step Toward Hope
We invite you to join the "Make‐A‐Wish family" through your participation in our annual Walk for Wishes. We need your help to continue to grant wishes to Vermont children living with a life‐threatening medical condition. Our Foundation relies on the generosity of the Vermont community to continue our mission and bring the joy back into these children’s lives. Each year we grant between 30 and 50 wishes in the State of Vermont. The average wish cost is approximately $10,000. We cover all expenses involved with the wish experience to provide a stress‐free time for
the families. It is not about the illness, but how a wish‐come‐true can change a life. Our goal is to grant wishes to every eligible child in Vermont ‐ you can help us achieve this goal. The Walk for Wishes is an event to raise awareness and funds for Vermont wish children. This event is unique, as our wish children will line the start cheering on walkers and giving inspiration to each step taken and proving how their wishes have changed their lives. You can make an impact on the lives of Vermont wish children ‐ take the First Step Toward Hope.
