Addison Kidd's Fundraising Page
Hi all of you lovely people,
This feels strange. . . asking for money I mean. Read the following to get an idea of what I am participating in:
"Hi and welcome to my Sleepout.org fundraising page! With over 10,000 people chronically homeless in Houston, the Houston SleepOut aims to raise funds and awareness for this serious issue.
On November 14th, I will SleepOut overnight in Sesquicentennial Park in support of the homeless epidemic. Please join me in supporting this worthy cause by donating any amount, large or small. Proceeds benefit Search Homeless Services."
That's the stock description of the event. I am not sure that it quite impresses the seriousness of this issue as I don't think "10,000 people chronically homeless" gets across that each one of those 10,000 people are human people on or past a certain despair point that is difficult for any of us who have the privilige of choosing to give money, or to sleep outside for a single night can comprehend. SEARCH is a fine organization that addresses the humanity of this neglected sector of our society in real and tangible ways. Please help them through me or on your own. They are looking for donations and participants. If you like, you may join my team (currently it is just me and i get lonely). There is a minimum of $100 donated per person who comes out on November 14th. You do not have to stay the entire night if you do not want to, but the more people who raise money individually the better. (Did i mention I get lonely?) Of course, you can simply donate what ever amount you can. Or not. But then you are a bad person. Just saying.
Best to you all,
Addison
