Jess Dawes's Fundraising Page
Last year, many of you were very generous in your donations, and Jess raised MORE THAN $2000 for Golden Gate Basset Rescue. She was the major fundraiser at the annual Waddle event and could have been Queen of this year's Waddle. The Novato, 4th of July parade Waddle is our main fundraising event - we rely almost totally for our operating costs on the income from donations and pledges at this event.
However, she and I discussed it... and we decided to abdicate in favor of our great friend Rosie!! Rosie really was a rescue basset, and her mom tried so hard to raise the money for her pledge, which was within a few dollars of our total, Jess was happy to hand the crown to her!
You see, Jess is in the lucky position of never being a Rescue dog. She was a gift to our family, and has never known the experience of being abandoned at a shelter,or thrown out and left to fend for herself. She has never lost the only family she has ever known because they can no longer care for her. She has had a good life, with food, shelter, warmth and love.
This year, we are once again asking for your help in donating funds to help Jess raise at least $2000 to help fund the activities of this great rescue organization. Jess intends to walk 10 blocks through Novato's main street during their 4th of July parade celebration. This will be in searing temperatures, on hot tarmac, and she will have to suffer the adoration of the crowds as well! There will be cheering and clapping, and hands trying to stroke her long ears and soft fur. She may even have to endure an odd treat or two on the way, thrown by adoring fans who are there (as we all know) JUST FOR HER!!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
