UPDATE - 61 DOGS SAFE -

WE STILL NEED YOUR FINANCIAL HELP!!

Golden Gate Basset Rescue has taken in 61basset hounds from a kennel that is closing down... 47of these are females, not spayed, 14 male, not neutered. 

The cost for medical on these dogs will be at least $600 per dog (for basic spay, vaccinations, testing etc) and now we know we are dealing with giardia and coccidia.   We have already had one basset with glaucoma in one eye.  Based on what other rescues tell us about their vet bills following intakes like this, I've revised the target figure.

That is where you come in!  Without specific help from our supporters, their friends and families, we won't be able to do this.

These dogs are aged between 1 yr and 8 yrs old.  The females aged one and two have never been bred, but those aged 3 or over have had at least one litter a year.  The kennel owners have serious health problems and cannot place them,or continue to care for them.  They are used to life in indoor/outdoor runs housing many dogs, so are sociable with other dogs, but will need some TLC and socialization with people.

PLEASE DONATE NOW - and send this appeal on to everyone you know!  It costs on average $400 per dog to get a dog ready for adoption, with spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm tests etc.  We already know we have a couple of  heartworm cases and at least one glaucoma case and one needing orthopedic surgery.

All these dogs are now safe in foster homes.  However, do apply, especially if you are interested in fostering going forward.  We have other dogs in shelters and coming in from owner surrender situations.

We have had an excellent response to our request for adoptive homes!
