For the last three years I have been involved in helping with The Faces Campaign and again I am offering my support and involvement this year. I have an extra motivation after learning of my fathers recent diagnosis of leukemia and really want to do all I can to raise extra funds this year! I have organized Open Mic events and the Laughing in the Face of Cancer event and will be continuing to do this again. If you are able to make it to one, that would be awesome! If you are unable to attend but would like to offer support, you may also donate via this page. We will be holding the open mic nights once a month for the months of March, April, and May with a culminating event at the Improv highlighting the winning acts in June sometime. The confirmed dates thus far are Wednesday, March 14th, Wednesday, April 18th, and Wednesday, May 16th. Doors open at Club Café in the South Side at 7pm and show time will be 8pm. Information regarding The Improv Event will follow soon. Four comics (decided on by a panel of judges coupled with audience reaction) will be chosen to compete at The Improv for our Laughing in the Face of Cancer Event. This year’s judges will consist of Gilda’s Radner Leadership group members, Aimee Arnold, Shannon Barry, and Dana Kuskie as well as last year’s Comic Search Winner, Aaron Kleiber, and the host for the evening, WDVE’s Randy Baumann. Admission to these open mic nights will be a $5 cover charge at the door the evening of (NO PRE-SOLD TICKETS). 100% of the proceeds will go to GCWPA courtesy of Club Café to further raise money for this campaign.
